6.5 Swede
Regarding the muzzle thread protector: It covers the exposed threads and more closely resembles the original barrel's muzzle contour than other metal covers. The Swedish army issued only a plastic protector.
Regarding the threaded muzzle brake: This is a diffuser-type muzzle device and does not generate a high pressure side wave like baffle-type muzzle brakes. You will not disturb other shooters beyond 5-6 feet on either side, although the charge and burn rate of your powder can affect this distance.
The effectiveness of the muzzle brake is in perceived recoil reduction. Its effectiveness is reported to be even higher than with the originally intended Swiss K31. This effectiveness is related to the slow-burning powders used by reloaders, i.e. slower burning powders make the muzzle brake more efficient. It does not function as a mass harmonic damper owing to the way the Swedish Mauser's barrel is bedded. It therefore has no effect on grouping with a correctly bedded Swedish Mauser.*
*The upper barrel band should clamp the barrel into the stock end tightly and have no looseness.
NOTE! Do not purchase the threaded "damper" for this rifle. It will have either no, or a negative affect on your barrel's harmonics.
